The United for Health collaborative was mobilized by the Onslow County Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force, in partnership with the Coastal Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention (CCSAP). It is comprised of a unique mix of professional and volunteer groups, military and civilian personnel in eastern North Carolina.
In the fall of 2010, United for Health will be implementing The Domino Strategy™ on How to Drink Responsibly – a national social marketing campaign that will introduce specific guidelines related to responsible drinking similar to guidelines that are offered to the public on diet and exercise. The Domino Strategy™ is the first social marketing collaboration of its kind between military installations in eastern North Carolina and the local communities surrounding those installations.
The initiative begins in September and will continue into late 2011. Funding for this project has been provided by the North Carolina Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (NC SPF SIG), the North Carolina Prevent Underage Drinking Initiative (NC PUD), the NC Coalition Initiative (NCCI), the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) Fellowship Program, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and significant contributions from community partners.
